Presley was born seven weeks premature and later diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy, which primarily affects her lower body. This diagnosis makes movement difficult, increases muscle stiffness, and requires more energy for daily activities.
In May 2025, she will undergo Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery in Vancouver to help manage her condition. SDR is a neurosurgical procedure that reduces muscle spasticity by cutting specific nerve rootlets in the spinal cord. This can relieve pain, improve mobility, and decrease the effort needed for movement.
The surgery is a major step in improving Presley’s quality of life. Post-surgery, she will need intensive physiotherapy to strengthen her muscles and maximize the benefits of the procedure. While the recovery will take time, the goal is to help her move more freely, reduce discomfort, and increase her overall independence.
Her family is hopeful that this surgery will allow Presley to engage in activities she loves with less pain and more ease, giving her the best possible chance to thrive.
