The short answer

A real company, real payment rails, and real checks before money moves

Four things you can verify without taking our word for any of it.

A registered company

SupportNow is run by SupportFamiliesNow, Inc., founded in 2021 by Scott and Jordan. It has been covered by Inc., Forbes, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Payments run through Stripe

Every card payment is processed by Stripe, the payment company behind millions of businesses. Your card number goes to Stripe, not to SupportNow, so SupportNow never sees or stores it.

Identity checks before a payout

Before a family's first payout, Stripe verifies the identity of the person receiving the money and the bank account it goes to. Nobody can collect money from a Support Page anonymously.

A team that picks up

Call, text, chat, or email, and a person answers, from setup to payout. That same team reads every reported page and every low rating.

How the money moves

From your card to the family's bank account

Four steps, and nothing hidden in any of them.

Step 1

You give

You choose an amount. At checkout you can add a RoundUp, a small optional amount on top of your gift that covers the card processing fee and keeps every tool free for the family. Skip it, and a 2.7% processing fee comes out of that one gift. The family is never charged a platform fee.

Step 2

Stripe charges your card

Stripe processes the payment and holds the funds. Your name and amount show on the Support Page right away, unless you chose to give anonymously, and your receipt arrives by email.

Step 3

The family requests a payout

From their dashboard, whenever they choose. The first payout needs Stripe identity verification. A standard payout is sent within 1 business day, and the bank usually posts it 1 to 3 business days later.

Step 4

The money lands

The first 2 payouts each month are free. Extra payouts in the same month carry a 2% fee, and an expedited payout, sent within a business hour, carries 2%.

99.2%

Over the past year, that is the share of every intended gift that families on SupportNow kept, measured across 200,000+ gifts.

Measured across 246,381 charged gifts to Support Pages, October 20, 2025 through October 20, 2026, excluding refunded, disputed, failed, and spam gifts and gifts paid with gift cards. Kept is what families received divided by what supporters intended to give, before optional expedited or extra payouts, which carry a separate fee.

Check a specific page

How to check a Support Page before you give

SupportNow being legit does not mean every page is for someone you know. Here is what to look at.

  • Read the organizer and beneficiary lines

Every Support Page names the person who set it up and the person or family who receives the money. When a friend organizes for a family, both names are on the page. If you cannot tell who the money goes to, ask before you give.

  • Look for updates

Families and organizers post updates, often with photos, as things change. A story that matches what you already know, with updates over time, is what a real page looks like.

  • Look at who has already given

Gifts and comments on the page come from real people, and on a page for someone you know, you will usually recognize names from their circle.

  • Think about how the link reached you

The safest link comes from someone you know. If a stranger sent it, or it arrived in a message that felt off, ask the family directly before you give.

  • Ask a person

Email [email protected] with the page link and a person on our team will look into it and get back to you.

Check the address bar

Every Support Page lives at supportnow.org. Payment happens on that page, in a form served by Stripe.

If a page asks you to pay by wire, gift card, or a payment app instead, you are not on SupportNow. Close it and tell us.

I loved talking with Abby; it is clear that she knows exactly what she is doing and provides you with the tools—in our case—to realize that there are ways to help our son with Duchenne get his new power wheelchair. Thank you very much.

Clearing up three things

What SupportNow is not

Knowing where the lines are is part of trusting a platform.

Not a bank

SupportNow does not offer accounts, loans, or interest. Card payments are processed and held by Stripe until the family requests a payout to a bank account in their own name.

Not a charity for your taxes

Gifts go to a person or family, not to a 501(c)(3). They are personal gifts, so they are not tax deductible for you, and the family receives them directly rather than through a nonprofit's budget. Families with questions about their own situation should talk to a tax professional.

Not GoFundMe®

SupportNow is a separate company and is not affiliated with GoFundMe. GoFundMe is a fundraising platform. A Support Page puts fundraising beside a meals calendar, a to-do list, volunteers, and updates, with a 0% platform fee for families.

FAQs

Questions people ask before they give

No. A gift on SupportNow goes to a person or family, not to a registered charity, so it is a personal gift and not a charitable deduction. You will receive an email receipt for your records, but it is not a tax receipt.

If you want a tax-deductible way to help, some families list an in-honor charity on their page, and gifts made there go to that organization under its own rules.

Report it. Email [email protected] with the link and what worried you, and a person will look into it. Before any money leaves SupportNow, Stripe verifies the identity of the person receiving it. If we confirm a page is fraudulent, we close the page and refund the gifts that have not been paid out.

Most pages that look worrying turn out to be real families in a messy season. The checklist above sorts out nearly all of them in a couple of minutes.

To SupportNow. At checkout, you can add a RoundUp, a small optional amount on top of your gift. It covers the card processing fee on your gift and keeps the meals calendar, to-do list, volunteers, updates, and a support team free for the family. That is why the family receives 100% of what you meant to give when you add one.

It is optional. Before you press Pay Now, the RoundUp is listed as its own line. Tap What is this? beside it to change or remove it. If you remove it, your gift still goes through and a 2.7% processing fee comes out of that one gift. How the RoundUp works.

Email [email protected] from the address you used to give, with the Support Page name and the amount. If the gift has not been paid out to the family yet, we can return it to your card. If it has, we reach out to the family on your behalf. A RoundUp can be refunded separately from the gift.

From RoundUps. Supporters who add one cover processing and the cost of running the page, so families pay no platform fee, no subscription, and no fee for meals, to-dos, or updates. Supporters who skip it pay nothing extra either; a 2.7% processing fee comes out of that one gift. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
