Kendra is currently at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, where she has been since August 17th. She continues to experience episodes/seizure activity, and the last 7–8 weeks have brought some of the most severe episodes she has experienced.

Since returning from Dubai last December, Kendra has been hospitalized nearly every month. Her parents, Joni and Steve, have worked tirelessly to find the right medical team and have made referrals to several hospitals around the country, but unfortunately, Kendra has been denied admission to each of them.

By God's grace, a family friend referred Kendra's case to a college roommate who works at CHI Health Immanuel in North Omaha. This person referred Kendra to a doctor at the facility. This doctor became intrigued by Kendra's complicated medical history and showed up in this family's greatest time of need...willing to take on her case and help determine what can be done to provide her with the ongoing care she desperately needs.

In what felt like another clear answer to prayer, insurance denied Kendra's transfer to the hospital. This doctor personally called the insurance carrier and advocated for her until they agreed to provide coverage. Praise God for this doctor. The family is incredibly grateful for this open door.

Kendra's continued care will be extensive and will likely be a very long journey. She needs ongoing medical care, along with physical and occupational therapy, as she works toward greater stability and strength.

Our immediate prayer is that Kendra will be stable enough to safely transport her from Sioux Falls to Omaha on Thursday, October 8th. If she is not medically ready, they will wait until she is stable enough for the trip. Her safety comes first.

  • Wisdom and discernment for her doctors and medical team

  • A safe transport from Sioux Falls to Omaha

  • The doctors at CHI Health Immanuel as they take on Kendra's complicated case

  • Strength and peace for Joni and Steve

  • Provision for the significant medical, travel, and family expenses ahead

  • God's continued direction in every decision
