It has been a while since we have been able to share a truly positive update on Kendra, but today, we are thankful to say that we can!
The last 24–72 hours have been really good, and as a family, we have learned to appreciate every single victory, no matter how big or small. When you have walked through the difficult days we have experienced, you realize just how much these moments mean.
Kendra’s medical team recently made the decision to begin steroid treatments. Although it has only been a few days, we are cautiously optimistic that this treatment is making a difference. Both the frequency and intensity of her seizures appear to have decreased significantly.
For the first time in quite a while, Kendra has enjoyed two consecutive nights of relatively peaceful sleep! She has experienced only 2–3 seizures each night and 1–2 during the day. While that may still sound like a lot to some, for Kendra and our family, this is a tremendous improvement and something we are incredibly grateful for.
She has also had two really good days of physical and occupational therapy. It is amazing what some much needed rest can do for her strength, energy, and ability to participate in these sessions.
Kendra continues to receive treatment for a couple of infections, and we recognize that there is still a long road ahead. We know we are not out of the woods, but today we are choosing to celebrate the progress rather than focus on the challenges. We have prayed for days like these, and we are thanking God for every one of them.
To everyone who continues to lift Kendra and our family up in prayer, who has called, sent messages, or simply taken a moment to think about us, please know that your love and support mean more than you could ever imagine.
We continue to trust God’s plan. Our faith remains strong, our hope remains alive, and we believe there are still greater things to come.
Thank you all, and may God bless each and every one of you!
