We are raising money for alternative therapy, travel expenses, alternative medications and anything else possibly helpful for our son Mack who has a medication resistant seizure disorder called West Syndrome.
We started this support registry in the summer of 2025. Shortly after that, we raised enough money for a 2 week intensive at Lucas Brain Rehab! We have seen significant results and can not wait to go back! We returned from his first intensive on 2/8/26.
Lucas Brain Rehab is in Austin, Texas and is run by Dr. Melissa Lucas. It is a 22 hour drive from our house to her clinic. None of the therapies, supplements or tools for continuing care at home are covered by insurance. Our supporters are the reason we have been able to give Mack this life changing therapy and we are praying we can continue to do so for the rest of his life. This will be a lifelong need for Mack, however, over time the therapy duration will be less! We have most of the tools we need for home care so the only funds we need to raise now are for therapy itself ($6,000 per week) and travel/lodging expenses.
Here are the improvements we have seen during/ after his treatment at Lucas Brain Rehab:
-Eyes are stabilized and able to focus rather than shaking or drifting
-visual tracking
-less overstimulation of all senses
-Improved awareness and bonding abilities
-unexplained edema in legs and feet significantly reduced
-Less unexplained vomiting
-Improved head and trunk control + strength
-Precise and deliberate movement in legs, arms, hands and fingers
-tolerance of speech therapy exercises
-visibly processes thoughts when experiencing something new (eyes look up to the right, showing thought processing)
-over all he is more calm and comfortable
-Oxygen requirement cut down by half! (1.5 lpm requirement before, .5lpm requirement now)
We have never witness improvement like this from anything his conventional doctors have recommended. This is why we are determined to get him back to Lucas Brain Rehad as often as we can (at least 1x a year).
