Hello family and friends!
Thank you to everyone who reached out to support Elyse, Francisco, and Leo as they navigate Elyse's breast cancer treatment.
Use this page to make/gift a meal, schedule a time to accompany Elyse to a medical appointment, or stop by their home on Saturdays to help with some basic tasks for Leo and keep Elyse in good spirits.
(Please note: Elyse has support for her first block of treatments, but will likely need some people to accompany her and help her get back from appointments during the second block. We'll post those details when she has her schedule.)
Thank you for supporting Elyse, Francisco, and Leo!
Allergy and nutritional information
Elyse is highly allergic to shellfish (shrimps, crabs, oysters, mussels, squid, cuttlefish, etc). She’s good with all other kinds of fish. She's also not a fan of coconut!
Elyse and Francisco like to eat healthy, lots of veggies, whole grain products, and proteins. High protein meals are great, as Elyse may not have much of an appetite and these meals will be more filling.
Chemotherapy patients should focus on protein-dense, hydrating, and easily digestible foods helps maintain muscle mass, combat nausea, and support immune function during chemotherapy. Chia seeds are thought to be particularly nutritious for cancer patients.
Chemotherapy patients should strictly avoid raw or undercooked meats, unpasteurized dairy, raw sprouts, and unwashed produce to prevent foodborne illness, as chemotherapy can weaken the immune system. Additionally, avoid alcohol, heavily processed foods, and specific fruits like grapefruit, which can interfere with medication metabolism.
All that said, living with cancer sucks so comfort food and little treats will be a great mood booster for Elyse!
