Hi family and friends,
Last week I had my first MRI after treatment started. We are still waiting for the official read and calculation of the functional tumor volume, but early looks show a really good improvement, so that's really great.
I had my second treatment day yesterday, Tuesday 7/7. My mom flew back up to go with Francisco and me. It was a very long day at the hospital. We got there at 8am to do labs. After that, we went to the oncologist appointment. When discussing the chest tightness I’ve been having as a side effect, they wanted me to have a CT scan done stat to check for a blood clot. Thankfully, they got me in relatively quickly and it was clear. Then we were there another 3 hours for pre medication, infusion, and observation, and 2 EKGs and a bunch of pulse ox checks. Francisco had to leave early to relieve our nanny and take care of Leo (daycare is closed this week for summer break). My friend Danielle picked my mom and me up, and we got home just before 5pm. I already had a terrible headache by that time but took ibuprofen and downed some electrolytes as soon as I got home. Francisco helped me fall asleep by rubbing my back.
Today I've had some fatigue and heart racing. I definitely feel my immune system working. My dad flew up today for the rest of the week, and grampa and lala are out walking with Leo so I can rest a bit more.
So the overall good news is that this drug seems to be shrinking the tumor better than expected, and we're hoping that continues. It was hard for the doctor to even feel the lump yesterday. Everyone is pretty wowed. We'll know more once the functional tumor volume calculation comes in.
Let's keep hoping.
