Welcome to DeeDee’s Journey: A Story of Strength, Faith, and Hope
In September 2021, DeeDee (Divintee Barr) was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Disease. Today, she is battling Stage 5, also known as End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), a result of her lifelong fight with Type 1 Diabetes. This journey has been long and challenging, yet DeeDee has faced it with grace, faith, and resilience.
Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the young age of 16, DeeDee’s journey has been one of incredible resilience and unwavering faith. Over the years, her health has been further complicated by kidney failure, requiring dialysis, and other related complications. In the past few months, DeeDee has faced immense hurdles, including multiple hospitalizations that have tested her strength and resolve.
Due to these recent medical setbacks, DeeDee was temporarily removed from the transplant list. However, in true DeeDee fashion, she is working tirelessly to overcome these challenges and ensure she is re-added to the list. Her determination, strength, and positivity inspire all of us to continue fighting alongside her.
We are excited to announce that Support Now will be our primary platform for sharing updates and rallying support for DeeDee. This new space allows us to keep family, friends, and supporters informed about her progress, raise awareness about Kidney Disease and Type 1 Diabetes, and advocate for the incredible gift of living organ donation.
DeeDee’s ultimate goal is to receive a double kidney and pancreas transplant, a procedure that offers her a new lease on life. Until then, she continues to undergo dialysis and work tirelessly to regain her spot on the transplant list. Her strength and faith inspire everyone around her, and it’s our mission to ensure she feels loved, supported, and encouraged every step of the way.
