💙 Cody’s Comeback: Two Years, One Brave Fight

Eric and Stacia Scott, lifelong residents of Carmel, Indiana, are the devoted parents of three young boys: Shepherd (6), Easton (4), and Cody (3). The Scotts are deeply loved in their community and have spent their lives serving others—especially by helping mothers heal and recover during the emotional and physical journey of childbirth and postpartum life. Their faith in Jesus and the strength of their family bond are at the heart of everything they do.

On July 1, 2025, their world was turned upside down.

After weeks of fevers, leg pain, and lethargy, little Cody was diagnosed with Stage M High-Risk Neuroblastoma—a rare and aggressive pediatric cancer. His cancer originated near his adrenal gland and has already spread to his stomach, liver, clavicle, bones, and bone marrow.

What started as a few troubling symptoms quickly spiraled into every parent’s worst fear. A first ER visit didn’t provide answers, but Cody’s condition worsened. On a return visit to IU North, he was urgently transferred to Riley Hospital for Children, where an MRI confirmed the devastating diagnosis.

Cody has already begun intensive treatment: inpatient chemotherapy in 5-day cycles, followed by 21-day recovery windows, repeating again and again. His journey will also include major surgeries, stem cell and bone marrow transplants, and more chemotherapy and targeted therapies

The Scotts are facing unimaginable physical, emotional, and financial strain. As small business owners, the cost of care—even with some cost-sharing—is overwhelming. But they are not walking alone.

We are asking for your help.

💰 The Costs Ahead

Because many of Cody’s treatments are either not fully—or even 100% not—covered, the family faces significant out-of-pocket expenses.

Medical Treatment Costs (Estimated Ranges):

  • Chemotherapy (per course): $3,000–$10,000

  • Surgery: $10,000–$50,000

  • Radiation therapy: $25,000–$50,000

  • Stem cell transplant: $100,000–$300,000

  • Immunotherapy (dinutuximab): $7,000–$15,000

  • Targeted therapies (naxitamab, Iwilfin): $10,000–$40,000

  • Isotretinoin (retinoid therapy): $1,000–$3,000

  • MIBG therapy: $10,000–$30,000

These costs are real—and just beginning.

Non-Medical Costs (Estimated $30,000/year):

  • Travel and lodging for out-of-state treatments

  • Meals during hospital stays

  • Time away from work

  • Childcare for Shepherd and Easton

  • Everyday expenses while managing life between hospitals and home

Over the two-year course of treatment, these non-medical expenses alone could exceed $60,000.
