Meet Calvin
Calvin is a strong 💪🏼 2-year-old who is trach, vent, and G-tube dependent and remains undiagnosed as doctors partner with the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) to uncover the cause of his complex medical challenges.
He is unable to walk, sit, or stand independently and spends much of his days in therapy working hard on head and core control, learning to bear weight, and strengthening his little body. Most days, Calvin is carried so he can continue exploring the world in the only way he can right now.
Despite every obstacle, Calvin shows incredible determination and has made meaningful progress. However, traditional treatment approaches have not been sufficient, and more specialized intervention is necessary. Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) has been one of the most effective therapies supporting his progress, but beginning January 1, 2026, this therapy will no longer be covered by insurance.
In addition, we are seeking care with Dr. Crawford, a functional neurologist, as part of a more advanced and targeted treatment approach. He specializes in brain-based therapies, including photobiomodulation and innovative laser treatments, with a focus on optimizing neurological function and recovery.
Unfortunately, this type of care is considered innovative and is not covered by insurance. That means every therapy session, every piece of equipment, and treatment moving forward will rely entirely on private funding and support creating a significant financial barrier to accessing the care that could help Calvin continue progressing.
