Calvin has been busy reading lots of books, swinging, enjoying the beautiful weather, and working hard in therapy. Over the past few months, he’s made some exciting progress. He’s now getting off the ventilator for 1–4 hours a day, working on standing, using his hands more, tracking better visually, and staying awake and engaged for longer periods of time.  He’s also finally enjoying his new chair, which we’ve been waiting on insurance approval for since last fall. It’s been such a blessing to finally have it and see him comfortable in it. 

His medication doses have been increased and we’re seeing some  improvements. We’re so thankful for his incredible team and for everyone who continues to support, pray for, and cheer him on. 

We only have 4 weeks left with EarlySteps, and we’re so sad to see this chapter come to an end. They’ve been such an important part of Calvin’s journey. Our plan moving forward is to pursue more intensive therapies and increase our days at Innovative Suit Therapy so he can continue building on all the progress he’s made. 

Recently, a friend challenged me to stop talking only about what we see and start speaking what God says. The Bible tells us that Jesus healed the sick, carried our infirmities, and brings life, healing, and strength. So while we celebrate every step forward Calvin makes, we’re also trusting God with this journey and praying for continued healing, strength and progress. We speak life over him, strength over him, healing over him, and a future filled with God’s goodness.
