Dearest Friends and Family,

As you may already know, our beloved friend Aisha was recently diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. 

Treatment will begin right away. Aisha will start chemotherapy on Monday, December 22, with weekly treatments for the first three months, followed by treatments every three weeks for an additional three months, for a total of six months of chemotherapy. During this time, she will have regular blood tests to closely monitor how her body is responding to treatment.

After 6 months of chemotherapy, Aisha will have surgery. After careful consideration, Aisha and her family have decided that a double mastectomy is the best path forward for them at this time, prioritizing the lowest possible risk of recurrence. Recovery from surgery is expected to take one to two months, followed by approximately three months of immunotherapy infusions as part of her continued care.

As Aisha begins treatment, she is surrounded by the deep love of her husband, Shaun, and their two wonderful children, Kai and Zehn, and they will all need the steady presence of their community in the days ahead.

Many of you have already asked how you can help. More than anything, Aisha is asking for all of your love, prayers, and positive energy. Knowing she is being held in thought, intention, and care means more to her than words can express.

As treatment unfolds, different kinds of support may be helpful at different times.  We’ll continue to share updates here as specific needs arise, always with Aisha’s comfort and consent. Play dates with the kids are welcome and appreciated! 

Anyone who knows Aisha knows her strength. She is fierce, courageous, and loves with her whole heart. She has built a life rooted in deep connection and love, and now that same love is rising up around her- carrying her and her family forward. We hope to remind her that she is not alone. She is deeply loved, and her community is walking right beside her every step of the way.
