For many of us living in the Pacific Northwest we are all too familiar with the expansive impacts of wildfire. Living with and in these lands you walk the threshold of beauty coupled with the dread that these spaces may one day perish in the wake of flames. Our dear friends and kinfolk at the Wizard Hat, Learning, Jay, Bri and Brandon have suffered the devastating impact of the Chelan Hills Wildfire on Saturday July 4th. Every single dwelling on that land has burned to the ground with little to no option for salvage. Not only were homes lost, entire livelihoods, memories, years of collections, tools, labors of love all reduced to ash. The Wizard Hat was more than a mere parcel but was a central hub for the countless family, friends and weirdos that these folks held space for. This land was a symbol for all that was and still is possible. A land saturated with the cackles, banter and tears of the many people who have had the great honor to rest at its stoop.
Brii, Brandon and Learning have been living and building their lives here for the last 7 years, salvaging many of the materials and building a dream space for themselves and their community. Jay moved on the land in 2023 living in his bus he has had for the last decade.
Brii is an accomplished silversmith and artist and was running a one man business out of her off-grid studio.
Brandon is a freelance carpenter, motorcycle mechanic and artist.
Learning has been tending his land, building a house and working at a local thrift store.
Jay is a tattoo artist working in Wenatchee
As our friends grapple with the harsh reality that has been violently forced at their feet, we humbly invite you to give, share or offer what you can so our buds can support themselves and their animals through this heartbreak. The loss of this property signals a massive collective heartbreak. We are raising funds for everyone that lived here to build a new life after losing, literally, everything.

"My partner and I just lost everything in a devastating fire on Saturday. Our house and my jewelry studio that we dug out by hand on a hillside, poured our blood sweat tears and YEARS of our lives into, we built from the ground up and have poured every little bit of ourselves into is gone.
.
We have to build every aspect of our lives again from nothing, which is honestly unfathomable right now. I don't know where we're going to go, or what our next steps are but we are taking it day by day for now. The incredible place we've called home for the last 7 years is a pile of ash now, along with many others in the area, including two friends who also lived on the same land with us. The fire was started by an incredibly careless and irresponsible person in the middle of the night with fireworks a few miles away, it spread so fast.
I keep imagining just sitting in my studio looking out at the view of my favorite place, on my little cozy couch, and always thinking how incredibly grateful and lucky I was to have that. The feelings I'm having of knowing that is now forever in the past is very surreal and heartbreaking. But I'm so glad that we made it out alive, with our two doggies and our two landmates. I was able to grab a small amount of things but 99% of our belongings are gone.
What we had was such a privilege, something I never in all my wildest dreams thought I'd ever have, it was good while it lasted...
I will be doing a raffle with a few of the pieces of jewelry I made that I was able to grab when I have the energy to do so.
