UPDATE:
On Tuesday, September 29, a Federal Judge Ordered Monica’s immediate release and she was reunited with us! We are beyond grateful to have her back, but this fight is far from over. She is not the same woman who was excited to take our son to Disneyland. Her experience has caused tremendous harm. And there is continuing fear knowing that ICE may try to arrest her again. The legal battle to protect her future and preserve her ability to remain in the United States will require significant time and resources over the coming months. We need your help.

To all of our friends, family, and community:
What was supposed to be one of the happiest trips of our lives turned into something we never could have imagined. My wife, Monica, our 3 year old son, and I traveled to California for a family dream trip to Disneyland. The moment we landed, Monica was arrested by ICE at the airport in front of our little boy. Our family was suddenly separated. She has not been given any paperwork on why she was detained - she was only told the government would be sending her to an undisclosed “third country.”
Since that moment, nothing has felt normal. Monica is being held in California, far from our home, while our legal team works urgently to bring her home. Our son is three. He doesn’t understand why his mom can’t come home with us. He only knows that he misses her. I miss my wife, my partner, and the person who helps hold our family together every single day.
Monica is a loving mother, a caring wife, and a dedicated nurse who has built her life in Philadelphia for the past 21 years - since she was a child. She is deeply loved and deeply needed by her family.
We are asking for help because we cannot do this alone. Funds raised will go toward Monica’s legal representation, court and filing expenses, travel to and from California, childcare, and the many unexpected costs that have come with her detention. Every donation, no matter the amount, gives us more ability to keep fighting and brings us one step closer to having our family together again.
If we are fortunate enough to raise more than is ultimately needed for Monica’s case and our related expenses, the remaining funds will be donated to organizations that support immigrants and families like ours that are experiencing detention, family separation, and the difficult legal process we are now learning about firsthand.
From me, from Monica, and especially from our little boy who just wants his mom home...Thank You!
