HELP MOM MIA AND HER SON AFTER SURVIVING HORRIFIC ASSAULT

Anyone who knows Mia has experienced her compassionate, selfless, generous and loving heart. Her smile, laughter and caring spirit leaves a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her and have her in their lives. Her kindness and warmth have touched many lives, whether through her friendships, her community, her family or her work. She has spent her entire life in the medical field caring for others, and now she needs all of us to rally around her.

The Tragedy
On May 2, 2026, what should have been an ordinary and happy day became a devastating tragedy that changed Mia's life forever. After already having fled her abusive ex, she suffered a horrific assault at the hands of her ex, while she was at a local establishment and in front of many shocked eyewitnesses. She was rushed to the hospital with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and two brain bleeds.

Because of severe safety threats, Mia was placed under strict protective measures. She spent the past several weeks completely isolated with zero visitors allowed, even on Mother's Day. She endured one of the most difficult periods of her life alone while fighting for her recovery.

A Devastating Second Diagnosis
As if the trauma of the assault and TBI were not enough, one of the head scans in the hospital revealed a malignancy in her left parotid gland. This unexpected diagnosis has added yet another layer of fear, uncertainty, and emotional distress. Mia is now forced to face this frightening new cancer diagnosis, with additional procedures and treatment decisions, while still recovering from her traumatic brain injury. The worry about what this diagnosis means for her future and her ability to continue caring for her son weighs heavily on her every day.

⚠️ Current Daily Struggles
Mia is currently battling severe, life-altering symptoms:

  • Aphasia (severe difficulty speaking)
  • Memory and Cognitive challenges
  • Vision Problems (tunnel vision)
  • Hearing Problems (tinnitus)
  • Balance and gait issues requiring a walker
  • Difficulty functioning from constant pain
  • Severe anxiety and PTSD from the assault
  • Daily therapy needs (Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapy)

⏱️ Homeless by June 5th
Before this nightmare, Mia worked hard to provide for herself and her adult son, who is on the autism spectrum and depends entirely on her care. She is now completely unable to work. Her disability application is pending, leaving them with zero income.

A local domestic violence agency has funded a temporary hotel stay, but this assistance ends on June 5. After that date, they have nowhere to go.

Finding emergency housing is nearly impossible. Very few shelter programs are equipped to handle a woman fleeing severe domestic violence who also has extensive medical limitations and an adult disabled dependent. With no income coming in and mounting medical needs, their situation has become critical.

 Trapped Without Transportation
To make matters worse, her vehicle—the one thing that could provide transportation to medical appointments and potentially serve as their last shelter option—has broken down. After thieves stole the catalytic converter, additional damage led to spark plug and ignition issues. The car now struggles to operate and cannot safely travel above 15 mph. Public transportation is not a realistic option due to her traumatic brain injury, mobility limitations, and severe PTSD following the assault. Without immediate help, she and her son may soon be left with no housing and no reliable transportation. Without a miracle, their broken-down car may become their only place of refuge and shelter.

❤️ How You Can Help❤️
We are urgently raising funds to prevent this traumatic assault tragedy from becoming a homelessness tragedy also. Your donations will go directly toward:

  • Safe, stable housing for Mia and her son (Rent, Deposits, Fees, Utilities)
  • Hotel expenses until permanent safe housing is secured
  • Emergency living expenses while disability benefits are pending
  • Critical car repairs so she can attend appointments and maintain safety & independence
  • Medical and rehabilitation-related costs not covered by insurance
  • Basic necessities during this incredibly difficult transition
  • Replacing essentials (beds, furniture, appliances) they had to abandon when fleeing for their lives

No mother should have to fight a traumatic brain injury AND a cancer diagnosis while wondering if she and her child will survive on the streets.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help provide safety, stability, and hope as she works toward healing and rebuilding her life. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Your kindness, support, and prayers mean more than words can express!

I will continue to post updates as she progresses. Thank you for supporting my most amazing and courageous friend, Mia, and her son through the most difficult chapter of their lives!
