In Support of Samantha's Breast Cancer Journey

Samantha's Breast Cancer Journey

The Diagnosis, The Unknowns, and The Needs

Sam was diagnosed with breast cancer on September 23rd.  First the lump, that grew very rapidly, thankfully Sam’s doctor didn't wait and pushed all her paperwork “stat”. The mammogram, done the week after meeting with the doctor, showed 'something of concern’ that they did an ultrasound immediately. She left that day with an appointment for a biopsy in two days and a need for an MRI. Small back story, Samantha was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at the age of 10 and spent 2 ½ years on chemotherapy.  Now another cancer diagnosis was even more concerning, was this related in a way or a separate cancer? That biopsy did confirm it was cancer and the MRI showed additional spots in the same breast. They met with the breast surgeon who helped them understand everything that was going on and the plan of action moving forward.  Sam is scheduled for a bilateral mastectomy for October 28th.

Sam is a well-established and highly in-demand licensed massage therapist with her own business in Glen Mills, Pa (The Secret Garden Massage) and with that are all those businesses expenses that must be thought about while she is recovering from this surgery. Sam and Dale, like most young couples, both works to support their family which consists of four kids full-time and every other week Dale’s two older children are also with them.  So, there’s always between 6-8 people in the house dependent upon each of them.

With Sam being unable to work, and being self-employed, she will not be providing any financial support for their family during this process. Right now, we know she will have to recover for at least six weeks minimum just to recover from the surgery, but we will update everyone as more updates are provided.  We have lots of unknowns right now. They really will need financial support to keep things afloat so Sam can concentrate on herself. They may need help with the kids, getting them to or from school while she is unable to drive. She won't be able to lift their youngest for some time (and he's a big boy)!  And Sam is the COOK in the family. She 'thinks' she is going to hop right from the hospital to taking care of her family, self, house, meals, but she truly will not be able to do these things.

We are asking for prayers for them as they go through this journey, any financial assistance you feel led to provide. Also, sharing their journey for others to possibly help would be greatly appreciated.  We will be posting updates of the journey as we receive them to keep everyone involved.
