In Support of Radloff family farm
Our family has been hit with wave after wave of loss.
James, Madden, and I have lost 4 of the most important people in our lives within 16 months.
Before losing my parents, James' mom (Nonnie) passed from congestive heart failure. Then in March 2025, James' /our son Nik passed.
In November 2025, we said goodbye to Dad (Del). After beating cancer twice, he died at home with love, laughter, and music.
We were still grieving and helping Mom (Vi) when she died suddenly and unexpectedly just 90 days after Dad did.
Everyone deals with things, but the compound, complex grief we’re walking through is crushing.
On top of the heartbreak, Dad & Mom left behind a home full of memories, paperwork, knickknacks, a shed that is falling apart, medical bills, and a mortgage we weren’t prepared for.
This isn’t just a house. It’s the family “farm” — the land where my sister and I grew up, where Dad taught us to fix up cars & garden, and Mom’s chickens provided eggs for her famous chocolate chip cookies & angel food cakes.
The farm had been the heart of every holiday, birthday, bonfires, fall festivals, and most of all, Sunday dinner. It would be amazing to gather again. It’s our legacy of love.
The outside 'semi-feral' cats that live in the granary and sheds are down to being fed 'soop' and dry food.
Mom's dog lives with my sister, and we care for their two spoiled house cats.
We want to move there and bring it back to life as the gathering spot for family functions, just like it was with Mom and Dad. Use it to heal our hearts as grief and health issues abound and I would like to have time to live and love in my childhood home.
James and I want to see our grandchildren run and play like my kids have. I want Madden to grow up with the same memories I did — now as her home — running through the yard, holiday baking in Grandma's kitchen, telling stories, and laughing around the table.
Right now, that future is at risk.
The house has fallen into disrepair while Mom and Dad aged throughout these past years. The wiring is archaic and unsafe. The plumbing needs to be updated, and the foundation needs work. If James, Madden, and I move in to try to save it, we’re not even sure the electrical can handle modern needs as it is.
And while trying to sort all this, I, Chris, ended up hospitalized with diverticulitis and was found to have Stage 3 Congestive Heart Failure. The doctors say stress can cause CHF; I call it “broken heart syndrome,” missing each of them so much it hurts to breathe.
*What your donation will do:*
- *$25-$100*: Helps cover urgent utility bills and keep the power on food for all the kitties
- *$250*: Pays for an electrician to assess & begin safety upgrades
- *$500*: Goes toward mortgage arrears to prevent foreclosure
- *$1000+*: Major repair fund for electrical overhaul, plumbing, and home repairs so we can move in safely
Every dollar helps us hold onto the last piece of my parents we have left — and helps us heal and rebuild it as a home where love, laughter, family, and (especially) grandchildren can fill the house and yard with joy & laughter again.
We’re not asking for a handout. We’re asking for a lifeline while we grieve, heal, and fight to keep our home alive for the next generation.
If you can’t donate, please share.
We do need hands for clean out as well.
If you knew Mom, Dad, Nik, or Nonnie, please leave a memory us a or message us.
Those stories are what will fill these walls again someday.
Thank you for helping us save our legacy of love.
With gratitude,
Chris, James, & Madden
