Hello family and friends,

People have been asking how they can help during this time, as Paul undergoes cancer treatment.  First and foremost, prayers. thoughts of hope. and sending love are what are needed most.  These have been deeply felt by Paul, Ann, their eight children, and new grandbaby every single day. We truly believe in the power of prayer and God’s plan for Paul. Below are some other ways that you can support the family including the meal train link, help with rides and daily tasks around the house and a link to donate financially, if you feel moved to do so.

In December, Paul was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive Stage 4 cancer called extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma.

He is being admitted to PENN for a stem cell transplant on Tuesday, April 7th and receiving the donor stem cells on April 14.  The stem cell transplant will be wiping out Paul's immune system and any residual cancer cells so that the new immune system (from the donor) can grow.  Paul will be in the hospital for about a month and then a very long recovery at home after, The Penn transplant team anticipate it will take him a full year to be back to himself.  They shared that it will take 6-9 months for him to regain the immunity level of a newborn baby.  We are so grateful for the young man who is willing to donate this life saving gift to Paul.  We are not allowed to know who the donor is for at least a year.

Because of treatment and recovery, Paul will be on disability for at least the next six months. Ann is amazingly trying to balance time at the hospital, caring for their eight children, welcoming their new grandbaby, and working as a teacher and nurse. This season has brought unexpected emotional, physical, and financial challenges for the entire family.

If you choose to financially support the family here are some of the ways the money will be used:  help cover medical bills and their deductible, help cover income lost as Paul is on disability, travel and meal cost and everyday needs. But most importantly, contributions of any size will create some ease so the family can focus on what matters most: Paul’s healing and being together.

Above all, please continue to pray for Paul’s response to treatment, strength for Ann and the kids, and peace and hope for their whole family. We are beyond grateful for every prayer, message, and act of kindness.
