Hello family and friends!
We come to you with a heartfelt update about our beloved Dad, Owen Carey. Owen has been diagnosed with Oral Cavity cancer. This serious condition requires surgery on his throat, tongue, and jaw. The recovery will be long, and Owen will have to relearn how to speak, eat, and do many basic things. The surgery is just the first step, and while we don’t know everything just yet, we expect him to be in the hospital for at least a week. His surgery is scheduled near the end of January.
Our family is 100% trusting in God’s plan and firmly believes that He works all things for good (Romans 8:28) and Knowing that Owen has faithfully used his voice for so many years to preach the Word of God, we believe there could not be a more important time to lift both Owen and Esther up in prayer and support.
At this time, there is no clear timeline for when Owen may be able to speak or preach again after his surgery, nor is there certainty about the next steps in his treatment. Because of this, we are setting up this support page to give those who love them an opportunity to come alongside them—through prayer, encouragement, and practical support—as they walk this road together.
Your prayers, words of encouragement, and any form of support will greatly aid Owen during his recovery process and Esther as she takes a caregiver role through his healing journey. We are deeply grateful for your kindness, as each gesture will make a significant impact on this journey.

So glad to hear he is doing well. 3 surgeries and multiple infections tried to dampen my usual optimism of life this year, but… I won ! Owen will too. We inherited the fight gene and it’s strong. Hugs and prayers from Niece Kate… to all of you!
