Hello family and friends!
Our dear mom, sister, daughter and friend, Katie Trageser has received life-changing news.
After several weeks of experiencing severe leg and shoulder pain, Katie was admitted to the hospital on August 3rd. Preliminary scans revealed a pulmonary embolism, as well as multiple tumors that have spread throughout her body including; liver, femur, sternum, and humerus. Initial biopsy results confirmed cancer. Additional information from the biopsy, such as origin will be relayed in the coming days. As of August 7th, Katie has been transferred from Advent Shawnee mission to University Health Truman Medical, with plans for surgery on her femur and humerus to stabilize the bones, which would allow her to regain mobility through rehabilitation. It’s a long road ahead, but Katie is strong and determined.
As we navigate this time, we want to keep everyone who cares about her informed. We will be posting regular updates as more information comes forth. We also encourage people to leave supportive comments for Katie to read.
We have also set up a way for people to donate money to help alleviate the additional stress of the financial side. Every dollar is appreciated and 100% of the donations go directly to supporting Katie.
