Friends, Family & Everyone in between,
On October 13, 2025, our family received completely devastating news. What began as a pediatrician visit rapidly escalated into an Emergency Room visit where our one-year-old son, Jordan (JJ), was diagnosed with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia. We are still processing the shock of this diagnosis.
In a short amount of time, JJ has endured an unimaginable amount for a baby his age. He has received several blood and platelet transfusions. He underwent full sedation to have a port inserted in his chest and has had multiple lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, X-rays, and EKGs. This is only the first month.
The leukemia cells filled 90% of his bones, which caused him to completely stop walking, and his hemoglobin was at a 3 upon arrival.
We spent two weeks at Lutheran General, never leaving his side, followed by continuous weekly outpatient visits. I slept in a chair next to JJ's crib, and Joe slept on a cushion on the floor, doing whatever we could to be close to him.
JJ is now at home on oral medications and has been receiving chemotherapy weekly for nearly a month. Despite the chaos, Joe and I are both continuing to work every day. I am incredibly fortunate that my company allows me to work from home so I can be with JJ during this challenging time.
Many of our family and friends have reached out, asking how they can help, and we often find ourselves unsure of what to say. It was suggested that we create an Amazon wish list for JJ, which I've attempted to put together. I was also encouraged to create a fundraiser for those who have asked about donating directly. I put it off because it has been incredibly difficult to accept and share that our baby has cancer. It doesn't feel fair or right.
Please continue to keep Jordan in your prayers. He has been smiling through this process like the strong, brave little man he is. #JJSTRONG
Thank you to everyone who has been drawing pictures for Jordan; we are hanging them on his door and refer to them as Jordan's "free smiles."
Joe and I plan to post updates here from time to time for those interested in following JJ's journey as he continues to fight.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts,
Stephanie, Joe & JJ
