Help Jake & Sierra After Hurricane Lowell
Jake and Sierra and their three children live on the far North Shore of Kauai, in a community that has been hit extremely hard by Hurricane Lowell.
Their neighborhood has suffered major damage, and right now they are without water and electricity. They have been told that power may not be restored for at least a few more weeks. The damage has also greatly impacted local businesses. While many businesses are working to rebuild and eventually reopen, they have had to lay off their staff in order to recover. These employees are local people who live and work on the island every day, and many families are now suddenly without an income. Unfortunately, both Jake and Sierra have lost their jobs as a result.
They are now trying to figure out how to take care of their family without an income, while also dealing with the most basic necessities being unavailable. Through all of this, they are doing everything they can to keep things as stable and safe as possible for their three kids.
This is a family who needs some help from their village right now.
When we visit an island like Kauai and fall in love with the people and the community, we have a responsibility to show up for them when things aren’t beautiful. For the people who live there, this isn’t a vacation. This is home.
Jake and Sierra aren’t asking for anything extravagant. They need help getting their family through the weeks ahead while they are without power, water, and work. Donations will help with food, water, gas, household necessities, transportation, and keeping their three children safe and cared for while their community rebuilds.
If you know Jake and Sierra, you know how much they love their family and their community. Now they need that same community to love on them.
