Hello, dear family and friends!
Jace has always been a remarkable young man, overcoming so many challenges since he was born with a congenital heart defect and 22Q11 deletion syndrome. He underwent three open-heart surgeries before the age of 4 but has thrived ever since. Now at 20, Jace loves playing the piano and guitar and is working hard on finishing his official diploma in adult transition school. He dreams of traveling and was eager to visit Japan in 2020, but our plans were halted by the pandemic. Earlier this year, Jace was informed by his cardiologist that a fourth open-heart surgery is needed before the end of 2026. The news has made Jace anxious, and he’s experiencing nightmares because he doesn’t remember his past surgeries. Yet, he finds comfort in looking forward to a life of adventures post-surgery.
