In Support of Help 3D Print a Wheelchair
I’m partnering with MakeGood, a nonprofit that connects volunteer makers with children and families who need custom mobility equipment, to help 3D print and build custom wheelchairs for kids who need them.
One of the things that matters most to me about this program is that these chairs are provided to families completely free of charge.
Families raising children with mobility needs already carry enough. The cost of helping their child gain more independence, confidence, and freedom should not be another burden added to that list.
While the finished wheelchair is donated to the family, building one still comes with real expenses. Donations to this campaign help cover the costs that make each build possible, including:
- 3D printing materials and supplies
- Printer, equipment, and maintenance costs
- Replacement parts and failed or reprinted components
- Shipping, hardware, and other build-related expenses
Every dollar helps turn filament, hardware, time, and a community of makers into something that can make a real difference in a child’s everyday life.
For me, this is about more than 3D printing. It’s about using the tools and skills we have to help a family, give a child greater mobility and independence, and show what can happen when a community comes together for someone else.
