Our family is sharing the story of our beloved Elijah.
At just three months old, Elijah suffered life-changing injuries from Shaken Baby Syndrome, resulting in a hypoxic brain injury. Today, he lives with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI), Hypertonia, significant mobility challenges, and is G-tube dependent. Despite everything he has endured, Elijah continues to show incredible strength and determination every single day.
Since that day, Elijah has worked tirelessly through occupational, physical, speech, vision, and mobility therapies. Every session helps him grow stronger, build new skills, and move one step closer to greater independence. Every milestone, no matter how small, reminds us that progress is possible.
From September 14, 2024, until his adoption was finalized on May 8, 2026, we chose to protect Elijah's privacy. Now that he is officially and forever part of our family, we are honored to share his journey and advocate for the opportunities that can help him reach his fullest potential.
Right now, Elijah has an incredible opportunity to participate in Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) intensive therapy. These specialized programs are designed to help children with neurological conditions improve strength, balance, motor control, and functional movement during some of the most important years of brain development.
Because Elijah is approaching the age and size where he will no longer qualify for these intensive programs, we are hoping to complete three to four DMI intensives before that window closes. Each intensive costs approximately $6,000, and insurance does not cover these expenses.
This isn't just another therapy. It's a time-sensitive opportunity to give Elijah every possible chance to make meaningful gains while his brain and body are in this critical stage of development. Our prayer is that these intensive sessions will help him build strength, improve mobility, and increase his independence for years to come.
