On June 25th at 2pm, our ancestral family home caught on fire and is completely uninhabitable!!!
We have lost everything, including our beloved baby cat!!!
Our lives have been turned upside down and we have all been displaced since.
We rented a dumpster out here for a month to clean out all of the severe damage.
My husband pulled his back out twice while working so fast in between the summer storms.
This is all due to a faulty electrical breaker box called the Federal Pacific.
We have since found out afterwards that it had a class action lawsuit against the company because of the risk of house fires!!!
We have also found out that in the past, insurance companies wouldn't insure a house that had a Federal Pacific breaker box and banks wouldn't give home loans towards the purchase of it if it had a Federal Pacific breaker box because of them being illegal!!!
There's NO home insurance any longer, but there was since 1980 up until 19 years ago when my father passed and my mother could no longer afford home insurance after retiring and only receiving social security... so now I'm wondering why her money was even taken monthly for insurance on a home with this illegal breaker box?!?!?!
She is 80 years old now.
I decided to come here with my husband and children to help rebuild and save the home in which we all have made cherished memories throughout all these many years, and although we have acquired a new breaker box, we still need to afford to rewire the whole house and rebuild each room completely!
The home needs serious work done before being able to move back into it.
We have been personally paying out of pocket since this tragedy on daily ice and gas for a generator until getting a temporary power pole put in.
We are slowly collecting all of the construction materials (drywall, paint, insulation, flooring, outlets, switches, etc.) and then eventually obtain furniture.
With the holidays quickly approaching, we are needing some financial support to continue to help us make this all happen.
We are working hard every weekend to get us all back together out here.
Any amount will help.....
No donation is too small, and every bit of support means the world to us.
If you cannot contribute financially, just sharing our story with others would be a tremendous help.
Abundant gratitude for your generosity and kindness as we navigate through this challenging period.
