In October 2025, Cole was diagnosed with ALS after what first seemed like minor symptoms — pain in his left elbow and hand, along with weakness and tingling that doctors initially believed could be a pinched nerve.
Searching for answers, Cole traveled to the Mayo Clinic, believing the symptoms might be related to past hockey injuries. Instead, further testing revealed something more serious — ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
Coming from a family with a medical background, Cole understood the weight of this diagnosis from the very beginning. We know this is a journey, and we know that insurance does not cover many of the treatments, therapies, equipment and supports that help someone with ALS remain as independent, mobile and healthy as possible.
This is not a battle anyone should fight alone.
Cole has always been a fighter. As a blueliner on the ice, he stood strong for his team. Now, we are asking you to consider standing strong with Cole. While he’s built for the fight, even the strongest defenseman needs a team behind him.
