What SupportNow Does

GoFundMe is the biggest name in crowdfunding, and for sheer reach it is the default many people think of first. It is also money only. There are no meal calendars, volunteer signups, or task coordination.
- GoFundMe deducts a 2.9% + $0.30 transaction fee from every donation. A community that gives $10,000 in typical $100 donations sends about $320 to fees first.
- Donors are also asked to add a tip on top of each donation, with suggested defaults around 17.5% and a slider that goes up to 30%. Tips go to GoFundMe, not your family.
- Every campaign requires a public goal and progress bar. On SupportNow, those are optional because not every family is comfortable putting a number on a hard season.

- Donations carry a 7.9% + $0.30 fee. By their own math, a $100 gift nets the family $91.80.
- Each helper needs a Meal Train account to book a date, and donations are refunded if a U.S. bank account is not linked within 60 days.

SupportNow vs. CaringBridge
CaringBridge is a nonprofit health journal, and a beloved one. Families have shared medical updates there for decades. The biggest differences are around fundraising and access.
- Donate buttons on CaringBridge pages make tribute donations to CaringBridge, not the family.
- Fundraising for the family itself happens through an integrated GoFundMe campaign, with GoFundMe’s fees.
- By default, visitors must sign in to view many pages, and commenting always requires an account. Coordination features are also limited.

Give InKind has a genuinely good care calendar for meals, rides, childcare, and chores. The difference is the money.
- Give InKind does not collect or manage donated funds.

GiveSendGo is a crowdfunding platform with fees similar to the industry standard. The bigger differences are what supporters experience.
- GiveSendGo deducts 2.7% + $0.30 from every donation.
- Donors are automatically shown a suggested tip.
- Campaign pages promote GiveSendGo programs and other fundraisers.
