How to Access Donated Funds
Whether you’re the Organizer (who creates the registry) or the Beneficiary (who receives the funds), here’s how money gets from donors to a bank account.
For Organizers
- Select a Beneficiary: yourself, or the person or family you’re supporting. There can only be one.
- Only the person who originally created the registry can change the Beneficiary or payout information later (Organizer Dashboard → Edit → Donations → Change Beneficiary). Other organizers can edit the page itself, but not these.
- The Beneficiary then gets an email with instructions to set up Stripe Connect, our payment partner. It sometimes lands in spam or junk, so check there first.
For Beneficiaries
- Set up Stripe Connect. Choose “Individual,” not “Business.” If asked for a business website, enter www.SupportNow.org. Add a bank account or debit card and finish any identity verification. Stripe may ask for more details, so watch your email and text messages.
- Meet the first-payout requirements. Donations must clear (2–3 business days, depending on payment method) and the registry must have at least 3 donations. The 3-donation minimum is a fraud-prevention step and applies only to your first payout. If you have fewer than 3 donations, you can instead complete identity verification at https://www.supportnow.org/kyc.
- Request your payout. Click “Your Profile” at the top of the page → “Your Dashboard” → Request Payout. The button is on your User Dashboard, not the Organizer Dashboard. Payouts are for your full available balance (partial withdrawals aren’t supported).
- Track your donations. The Organizer Dashboard → Donations tab shows each donation’s status (Processing, Available, Transferring, Transferred) and an estimated time until it’s available for transfer. It also lists your past transfers.
Timing and fees
- Standard payouts are processed within 24 hours. Expedited payouts are processed within 1 hour (Monday–Friday, 8 AM–8 PM ET) for a 2% fee. “Expedited” speeds up processing, not bank delivery.
- After processing, funds take 2–3 business days to reach your bank, depending on your bank.
- Each beneficiary gets 2 free payouts in any 30-day period. Additional payouts cost 2%, and the fee is shown before you submit.
- SupportNow is free to use. Families keep 100% when donors choose the optional RoundUp. If a donor declines it, a 2.7% processing fee is deducted to cover payment processing.
Using the mobile app: beneficiary changes and payout requests aren’t available in the SupportNow app yet. Use a browser on your phone or computer.
