Barry has terminal brain cancer, and he has now run the course of options.
Barry has been battling glioblastoma since March of 2024. He fought bravely and valiantly, undergoing surgeries and SOC, along with chemo and radiation. Although his treatments left him fatigued, he did well for many months. A 100% removal kept the cancer at bay for two years, but it came roaring back in the April of 2026. Barry went in for a second surgery. This recovery process has been brutal, and regrowth happened almost immediately. Barry also has evidence of leptomeningeal disease where cancer cells are in the cerebral fluid.
But sadly, there is no cure for glioblastoma. The chemotherapy and the radiation is used to keep the growth of tumors at bay. The cancer is microscopic.
Everyone asks about clinical trials, and believe me, we've been trying to get him into them. But these trials are highly selective, and they cherry pick who gets into them. Now that Barry has had Keytruda, Avastin and now Lomustine, and with LMD, there aren't any that would include him. So there's that.
Everyone who knows him will not be surprised to hear that Barry has been unbelievably positive and strong throughout all of this. He now has very limited energy. He struggles with vision, so if you message him, Holly will read it to him, but he isn’t likely to be on his Facebook account very much.
Barry has been facing this with optimism and good cheer. He is out of options, and we, his family and friends, are heartbroken and devastated.
Making things even more difficult, we now find ourselves in a position to accept donations for expenses related to his care. Any funds gathered will go to end of life care and then towards medical debt. Barry does not have life insurance, and if there is anything after debts are paid, it all goes to our children.
Thanks to all of you for your love and support.
We love you all. -Barry and Holly
