In Support of Alec Speights

On Sunday, July 12, 2026- Alec and his dad Steve were out on their motorcycles in Emmitsburg, MD when a deer ran out across the road, striking Alec and causing him to crash.

Thankfully, there was a couple driving a vehicle behind them who saw the accident occur and called 911 immediately. Alec was unconscious but still breathing. EMS arrived quickly and Alec ended up being flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, MD.

Once their team was able to evaluate the situation, it was discovered that Alec had 4 broken ribs which punctured both of his lungs and he suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Alec has a long road of recovery ahead- TBI's are not a 'one box, fits all' type of situation. There are still many unknowns at this time, and we may not get answers as quickly we might like, but our priority is making sure Alec gets what he needs and right now, he needs rest.

We are overwhelmed and appreciative for the number of texts, calls and messages we are receiving from all over; words of encouragement, Bible verses, prayers, and the "what can we do to help?" questions. 

For those who are not aware of Alec and Nicole's story- they recently purchased a house in Hanover, PA and moved from New Hampshire on 7/2/26, Alec was to start his new nurse practitioner position at an urgent care office in Westminster at the end of July and on top of all of that, Alec and Nicole are expecting their first baby (a boy!) at the beginning of January. This currently leaves them with no income but a mountain of bills. The last thing we want Nicole to worry about is needing to find a job to support them- we want her solely focused on her health, the baby's health and of course, being there for Alec as he heals and recovers. We have had family assist Nicole with reaching out to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and we are thankful that process has been started but it will not cover all their expenses.

We are setting up this site to help give Nicole a peace of mind knowing finances and bills are not one of the burdens she needs to add to her plate right now. We know we have an army of family, friends and community standing ready to support Alec and our family in any way we need, and for that we are truly thankful. 

If you're able to give financially, thank you! This will go towards Alec and Nicole's bills and other expenses.
If you are wanting to drop off meals/food- thank you! Right now, everyone is very much on the go and eating full meals is not quite on our radar at the moment. If you're able to drop off packaged snacks, granola/protein bars, on-the-go fruits- all of those would be greatly appreciated!
Gift cards are also great as they could help with purchasing meals to/from the hospital, paying for gas, as well as beverages and snacks.
If you are looking to donate your time- thank you! With Nicole, Steve and Jackie spending every day, all day, at the hospital, they could use some help at their houses; whether it's mowing the lawn, weeding (if you know Jackie, you know how she loves her gardens), feeding/letting the dogs out, shopping for groceries, etc. Those needs may change or differ as the days go on but if anyone is looking to help out in those ways, please reach out to Kellie.

Please keep Alec in your prayers- prayers of healing for his body and his mind, prayers for his doctors, nurses and medical teams as they continue to care for him and make decisions to help him heal that much faster and prayers of strength and peace for Nicole and the rest of the family as we continue on this long road we have ahead of us.

Alec has always had a desire to serve and help others- first in the U.S. Coast Guard, then as a nurse and he just completed 3 years of school to get his MSN and become a nurse practitioner. He has spent all his adult life trying to help better the lives of those around him and now it our turn to take care of him.
