On Sunday, June 14th, 2026, Adree experienced an unexpected medical emergency that lead to her needing extensive medical care at Research Medical Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She is still hospitalized.
In the time that Adree has been receiving care, it is believed she has a rare autoimmune disorder called Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Basically, the body overreacts to an infection, causing the blood to attack itself. Treatment for this condition includes chemotherapy, steroids, dialysis, and antibiotics as needed. Rehabilitation is also needed given her lengthy hospital stay.
While Adree has been receiving care, her husband Mark has been by her side everyday in the early morning hours through the late evening hours.
Adree is a small business owner, a caring Licensed Massage Therapist, in Belton and Mark holds employment. However, Mark’s in a new role that does not yet qualify for FMLA, and he is on unpaid leave to be Adree’s advocate during her care. Adree’s business is at a stand still at this time, leaving the household without income to ensure that normal mortgage and bills are being paid and now they will have hefty medical bills from multiple facilities.
We are asking for donations to help lighten Mark and Adree’s load so that they can focus on Adree’s care and long road to recovery. Any amount you can contribute will go to mortgage, utilities and expenses related to Adree’s hospital stay. Should there be any left over funds, those funds will be donated towards an HLH support or research foundation, chosen by Mark and Adree.
