Zoe is only 11 months old, but she has already shown more strength and determination than most of us will see in a lifetime. Born with Down syndrome, she faced a major surgery just days after birth — a surgery that went terribly wrong and led to cardiac arrest. What followed was a long stretch of uncertainty: repeated setbacks, multiple procedures, and an MRI that revealed severe brain damage. Her parents, Beth and Mike, walked through every impossible moment — the failed breathing tests, the warnings from medical teams, and the heartbreaking decision to remove the ventilator. And then, against every expectation, Zoe breathed on her own. She fought. She stayed. She showed the world exactly who she is.
After a successful repeat surgery and a long, emotional recovery, Zoe continues to amaze everyone around her. But her journey is far from over. Zoe needs access to a specialized intensive program at NAPA in Charlotte, NC, where they use Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) — a weight-based, movement-focused therapy that builds the foundations needed for motor skills, strength, coordination, and hitting developmental milestones. For children with Down syndrome and early brain injury, starting therapy as soon as possible is critical, giving them the best chance to learn how to use their bodies and develop the pathways they need to grow and thrive.
Unfortunately, insurance does not cover DMI. The average cost for Zoe’s needed sessions is around $8,000 per multi-week intensive, and she will need two rounds spaced about six months apart. Each trip also requires travel, lodging, and time away from work, making this an even heavier lift for her family.
Your support, shares, encouragement, and prayers are what keep this family going. Every contribution — big or small — brings Zoe closer to the therapy that could genuinely change the trajectory of her life. Beth will be posting updates here, sharing milestones and progress so you can cheer Zoe on as she continues surprising everyone around her. Please follow, share, and help others find this page so they can join her team.
Beth and Mike chose to use SupportNow because families keep more of the money here than on any other platform, ensuring that your gift goes directly toward Zoe’s therapy, travel, and care — right where it’s needed most.
