Help Atlee Access the Therapies She Needs to Keep Thriving 💜
Hi friends! For those who don’t know us, I’m Tiffany, a single mom to two amazing children, Abel, 14, and Atlee Sue, 4. We live in a small town in Missouri where resources for children with complex developmental and therapy needs are limited, which means we often have to travel to access the specialists and therapies Atlee needs.
Atlee Sue was diagnosed with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome before birth. This lifelong condition can cause significant developmental delays and requires extensive medical, therapeutic, and supportive care. Atlee has worked incredibly hard, and we are determined to continue giving her every opportunity to grow, develop new skills, and become as independent as possible.
One of the most important therapies in Atlee’s care is DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention) Therapy. We are planning for approximately 4–5+ upcoming DMI intensives, with some sessions lasting two weeks. DMI costs approximately $5,000 per week before travel, and because we have to travel to access these specialized providers, the cost of transportation, lodging, and meals adds significantly to each trip.
We are also working to get Atlee to Nancy, one of the most highly regarded feeding therapists in the world, to address her feeding needs. This intensive is expected to cost approximately $3,000 before travel.
As a single-income household, these expenses can be overwhelming, especially when so many of Atlee’s therapies and specialized needs are not covered by insurance. But these therapies are not simply extras for Atlee, they are opportunities to help her continue progressing and reaching milestones.
