Help Balto Fight Cancer: Give My Best Friend More Time
Our family is asking for help saving Balto, our beloved 10-year-old Native American Indian Dog.
For the last 10 years, Balto has been my shadow. He has been beside me through everything. He is loving, gentle, incredibly intelligent, and one of the kindest dogs I have ever known. He isn’t “just a dog” to our family. He is family. He is my best friend. He is my everything.
Recently, our world changed when veterinarians discovered a 4-inch tumor on Balto’s liver. Our veterinarian believes it is a malignant form of liver cancer and told us that it needs to be removed as soon as possible.
Balto has already undergone an ultrasound, and we have been told that another ultrasound will be needed to determine the tumor’s exact location and help the surgical team plan the procedure.
The estimated cost of the surgery and treatment is $10,000–$15,000.
That is an amount our family simply cannot afford on our own.
But we aren’t ready to give up on him.
We want to give Balto a chance.
The funds raised will go directly toward the surgery needed to remove the tumor and give Balto the opportunity to have more time with the people who love him.
Balto has spent 10 years giving us unconditional love. He has been there for our family, always following us around, always wanting to be near us, always somehow knowing when we need him.
He deserves the chance to come home from this surgery.
If we cannot raise enough money for the surgery, we may have to make the heartbreaking decision to place Balto on palliative care rather than pursue treatment.
I don’t want his story to end this way.
I know that $10,000–$15,000 is a huge amount of money. We don’t expect one person to make this possible. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer. And if you aren’t able to donate, sharing Balto’s story may be just as meaningful.
Please help us give Balto a fighting chance.
Please help us give my shadow more time.
He doesn’t deserve this. He deserves to come home.
