On June 11th, Jax was involved in an accident. He spent 17 days in a medical induced coma in the ICU at Children’s Mercy. Jax suffered a traumatic brain injury, along with many bumps, scrapes, and bruises.
We want to start by thanking everyone for the constant love, support, and prayers. The last 33 days have been an emotional roller coaster for our family, but we are incredibly grateful for all of you who have been praying and standing alongside us through this journey.
Our family is navigating the many challenges that come with ensuring Jax receives the care and support he needs. Mom and Dad have remained faithfully by his side throughout his hospital stay, providing comfort, encouragement, and advocating for his care every step of the way.
We are excited to share that the doctors are hopeful Jax may be able to come home within the next couple of weeks, which is a huge victory for our family!
While this is wonderful news, Jax’s journey is far from over. Once he is home, he will continue to require intensive rehabilitation for quite some time. He will need around-the-clock care to assist with both his medical needs and everyday tasks as he continues to regain strength and work toward recovery.
As we prepare for Jax’s transition home, we know the road ahead will continue to be challenging. Between medical appointments, rehabilitation, and everyday tasks such as preparing meals may become difficult for our family.
Many have asked how they can help, and one way would be by participating in a monthly meal train to help provide dinners for our family during this time. Gift cards to grocery stores such as Hy-Vee, Price Chopper, Amazon and Walmart would also be greatly appreciated, as they would allow us the flexibility to purchase meals, groceries, and other necessities as needs arise.
We are still uncertain about many of the expenses that may come with Jax’s ongoing rehabilitation and long-term care needs. For those who have asked how else they can help, there will also be an option to make a monetary donation if you feel led to do so.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has prayed for Jax, reached out, checked in, shared encouraging words, and offered support in so many ways. Every prayer, meal, gift, message, and act of kindness means more to our family than we could ever express.
Please know that none of it goes unnoticed. During some of our hardest days, your love and support have helped carry us through. We are forever grateful to have such an incredible family, friends, and community standing beside Jax and our family as we continue this journey.
