Meet Sophia Zumwalt – an amazing little girl with Trisomy 12p, a rare genetic condition that affects growth, development, and daily mobility. Despite the challenges, Sophia lights up every room with her contagious smile and brings endless joy to her family and everyone around her.
As Sophia has grown, transferring her safely has become increasingly difficult for her parents, Emily and Brian. They want Sophia to have continued access to the world around her, to experience outings and family adventures like any other child.
This is where a wheelchair-accessible vehicle would change everything. These vehicles allow families to travel together safely and efficiently, giving kids like Sophia the freedom to go places quickly and comfortably. Unfortunately, these vehicles are not covered by insurance and are very expensive, typically starting around $70,000–$90,000.
Why it matters:
-
Accessibility changes lives – giving Sophia independence and connection to her community.
-
Family adventures made possible – Sophia, her brother Blake, and her parents can experience the world together safely.
-
Immediate impact – a wheelchair-accessible vehicle will directly improve Sophia’s quality of life and daily safety.
We are coming together as a community to make this happen. Follow Sophia’s journey here as her mom, Emily, posts updates and stories. Every share, like, and donation brings Sophia one step closer to experiencing the world fully and safely.
Join us in making a real difference for Sophia and her family!
