Support the Rollins Family as They Fight for Katie Joy’s Healing

After much encouragement from those who love them, the Rollins family has said “yes” to letting their community bless them. For the past year, Amber and Chad have done everything in their power to pursue healing for their daughter Katie Joy — emotionally, physically, spiritually, and financially. Now, as next steps grow more intense and expensive, we have the opportunity to step in and surround them in a season where they shouldn't walk alone.

KJ’s Story

Since early 2023, Katie Joy has battled chronic, unexplained pain. After responding well to innovative therapies in 2024, she experienced ten beautiful months of stability. However, in January 2025, her symptoms returned — more aggressively — and began to impact her nutrition, daily function, and overall well-being. Since April alone, she has had five hospital admissions, totaling over 50 days, including one out of state.

Her medical picture is complex and multi-layered, which has made diagnosis and treatment slow and difficult. Recently, doctors have begun narrowing in on what may be a rare connective tissue disorder (likely a form of HeDS), which has helped connect many dots — including gut motility, pain, and vascular symptoms. While this clarity is helpful, it also opens up a new level of specialized treatment and care, much of which is not covered by insurance.

In the meantime, the Rollins are focused on helping KJ rebuild her strength through daily therapy appointments — physical therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling — as they continue to consult experts in multiple specialties across the country.

Through it all, Katie Joy remains a beautiful light. She is full of heart, joy, curiosity, and a fierce will to fight. She misses dancing, baking, going to church, and laughing with her friends. We are all praying with confidence for full restoration.

How We Can Help

The financial load of this past year has already been significant — and this next chapter may be even more so. The Rollins family has never once asked for help — if you know them, you know they are givers in every sense — but after much urging from their circle, they’ve agreed to let us support them in this way.

This is not a family asking for a handout. This is a community choosing to stand in the gap.

Current & Upcoming Needs:

  • Specialized weekly therapies (PT, OT, and more)
~$500/week — not covered by insurance — already ongoing for 12+ months and expected to continue another year or more

  • Functional Neurology Intensives (MN)
~$8,000/week plus travel — life-changing care not available locally
4–5 more intensives are likely needed

  • Mayo Clinic Program (in review)
~$50,000 — accepted into the program, pending prayer and decision about timing and resource use

  • Out-of-state Telehealth consultations & diagnostics
Dozens of ongoing appointments to gain clarity across specialties

  • Travel, lodging, food, and sibling care
As the Rollins navigate out-of-state trips and multi-day stays

This is only a partial list. These treatments and evaluations — while effective — are expensive and often fall outside insurance coverage. Yet they are giving KJ a real shot at healing.

From Their Friends

Amber and Chad were hesitant to say yes — but we reminded them what Scripture teaches: “To everything there is a season…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). This is their season to pour everything into their family — and let us pour back into them.

We’ll continue to post updates here, and so will Amber, so you can walk this road with them. Thank you for being part of the miracle story being written.
