Paige has always loved learning, connecting with others, and experiencing the joy of being part of a school community. As we began preparing for middle school, we originally planned to homeschool in order to best support her academic and sensory needs. But deep down, we knew Paige longed for more — not just education, but the experience of truly going to school, building friendships, and being surrounded by peers each day.

After much prayer and guidance, we discovered Independence Academy, a school specifically designed for students with autism and unique learning needs. From our very first conversation, we felt something different. Instead of needing to over-explain Paige’s diagnoses, communication style, sensory needs, anxiety, hearing loss, autism, and Down syndrome, we were met with understanding, compassion, and genuine excitement about who she is as a person.

When Paige attended her shadow day, something incredible happened — she relaxed. She confidently explored the school, engaged with teachers and students, participated in class discussions, and showed a level of comfort and independence we rarely see in new environments. Her longtime RBT shared that it was the most at ease she had ever seen Paige in a novel setting. The school intentionally creates an environment where students are supported, encouraged, and allowed to grow while fully being themselves.

With a 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio, Independence Academy provides individualized academic support while also helping students build confidence, independence, communication skills, self-advocacy, and meaningful relationships. We truly believe this opportunity could be life-changing for Paige and provide the foundation she needs to continue growing emotionally, socially, and academically.

Even with the voucher program, tuition will still cost our family approximately $13,000 per year. In addition, we are hoping to begin Neurofeedback therapy in the fall — a therapy not covered by insurance that we believe could further support Paige’s emotional regulation, anxiety, focus, and overall well-being.

Every donation made will go directly toward Paige’s tuition and therapies. Most of all, we appreciate your prayers, encouragement, and support as we work to give Paige access to the tools, environment, and opportunities that help her flourish.

Thank you for loving our girl so well and for being part of her journey.
