Last week, Paige started 6th grade at her new school, Independence Academy.
She has been telling anyone and everyone who will listen that she’s going to a new school. She has been VERY excited.
She started a week later than her siblings and was chomping at the bit for her turn.
I drop Nolan af school at 7:45, we drive 15 min to her school… and we wait. We wait until 8:20 when the admissions gal and the principal open the doors and come out.
They greet each child and take attendance as the kids walk in.
“BYE MOM!” Paige ran up to the sidewalk waving her hand, eager as could be.
And every day since then has looked the same.

I’m happy to share many of the positives I know about thus far from Paige, her teacher, and her therapists…

• body language, shoulders relaxed tells us overall she’s more relaxed, more comfortable, and less anxious
• engages with many different peers; has a friend named Kynsley (the other girl in her class) whom connects with and tells us about
• teachers are all very patient, kind, helpful, want to help them success; they see/appreciate what she has to offer
• confidence already growing
• more actively engaged, raising her hand confidently and regularly, responding to questions
• loves the IA dollars — reward system for positive bx/choices — saving up for a pizza party with 4 friends (it may take her all year, but that’s ok!)
• especially into science class — told us about an experiment they did and now learning about the planets
• Enjoying using her computer daily for her work
• she is so proud to show us her binder with her homework and her grades papers
• came home Friday and immediately took out her Math homework and completed

She is happy and her confidence is growing by the day. We cannot wait to see how she grows this year!

We are especially GRATEFUL to all those who have prayed for/with us, pulled for/supported us, and so generously donated to make this school year a reality for her. ♥️

When Paige and I attended the school picnic a couple weeks ago, all 3 families I met had moved from another state or another city in Indiana. It’s quickly becoming obvious WHY these families made the move. (And knowing first hand just how HARD it is to find a good fit.)
