In Support of Maggie Powell

Maggie, a beautiful and brave 15-month-old with diastrophic dysplasia (DD), is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children's Hospital Colorado following complications from her recent surgery, Maggie's situation has become particularly challenging. Last night, Maggie underwent emergency exploratory surgery after her mom, Laura, found her struggling to breathe in the early hours of the morning. The medical team addressed a post-operative leakage, but unfortunately, Maggie has developed a viral infection that has put her lungs at risk. She is currently intubated and sedated to support her breathing and allow her body to heal. The most pressing concern at this moment is for Maggie to remain stable enough to attempt removal of the breathing tube later today or tomorrow. This will be a crucial step in assessing her recovery and ability to breathe independently. During this time, Maggie and her family need our support more than ever.
