Support Liam Slattery's Therapy & Medical Journey

One Year In — and Just Getting Started

Liam Patrick Slattery is only 16 months old — but he’s already shown more strength, fight, and spirit than most of us will in a lifetime.

Born with a rare genetic condition called GNAI1 Neurodevelopmental Disorder, Liam’s early days were marked by seizures, breathing issues, and lengthy hospital stays. Since then, his journey has been filled with challenges — but also with grit, hope, and determination.

With the help of his parents, Courtney and Sean, and two adoring big sisters, Liam is working hard every single day to learn, grow, and experience life as fully as possible.

But the road ahead is long — and filled with medical costs that insurance won’t cover.

💛 What Liam Is Up Against

Liam's diagnosis comes with many complex symptoms, including:

  • Epilepsy and apneic seizures

  • Low muscle tone (hypotonia)

  • Developmental delays

  • Feeding challenges

  • Ongoing respiratory complications

In his first year alone, Liam has endured:

  • Multiple PICU stays

  • Oxygen support, viral complications, multiple MRIs, multiple VEEGs, multiple sleep studies, and an airway surgery

  • A diagnosis so rare that fewer than 30 children in the world are known to share it

🧡 What’s Next: Therapy, Equipment & Early Intervention

Courtney and Sean are doing everything they can to access the therapies and tools Liam needs to grow stronger and more independent. Here's what they're focusing on next:

KinActive Camps — 2x a Year

  • KinActive is an innovative pediatric physical therapy + chiropractic program built for kids like Liam

  • We’re currently in our third camp, with plans to continue attending four times a year

  • Estimated cost: $6,000–$8,000 per camp, before travel and lodging

MNRI Therapy — 4x a Year

  • Musgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) activates Liam’s primitive reflexes through precise stimuli and exercises to help create more efficient neurological pathways

  • MNRI intensive scheduled for December, in Michigan

  • First MNRI intensive was in September in Texas. Shortly after this intensive, Liam picked up his first toy!

  • Estimated cost: Varies per location, typically $5,000–$7,000 per block

DMI On-the-Fly — 2x a Year

  • Liam has 2 intensives scheduled in 2026

  • Liam’s first DMI On-the-Fly session was in September 2025

  • These one-on-one sessions are built around early neuroplasticity — and time is critical

  • This work provokes a specific active motor response in response to a defined dynamic exercise - opening doors to more movement possibilities

  • Estimated cost: Varies per location, typically $5,000–$6,000 per block

NAPA Center — 1-2x year

  • Liam has secured a spot at NAPA Center Chicago in April 2026

  • This intensive will be three weeks long and includes physiotherapy, DMI, occupational therapy, and speech therapy

  • Hoping to secure another slot the second half of 2026

Specialized Equipment

  • Liam is beginning to need durable medical equipment like therapy chairs, standing frames, adaptive seating, and mobility tools

  • These allow him to:

    • Sit upright for bedtime stories

    • Safely take baths

    • Join in family activities like bike rides

  • Cost ranges from $1,000–$10,000 per item, most of which is not covered by insurance

Travel & Lodging

  • Many of Liam’s therapies and appointments require out-of-state travel

  • Expenses include hotel stays, meals, gas, and transportation coordination

✨ Why We’re Moving to SupportNow

We’re transitioning from GoFundMe to this SupportNow Registry because it gives us more flexibility and connection:

  • A larger percentage of your donation goes directly to Liam’s care

  • We can list practical needs like gas cards, meals, or therapy supplies

  • And we can post updates so you can walk alongside us in this journey

🙌 How You Can Help

If you’re reading this, thank you. Whether you’re family, a friend, or learning about Liam for the first time — your support truly matters.

You can:

💙 With Gratitude

Liam’s journey is one filled with uncertainty — but also with so much hope. Every therapy, every breakthrough, every smile is made possible by the people walking this road with us.

Thank you for believing in Liam.
Thank you for lifting up our family.
We will never stop fighting for our son — and we are so grateful to have you with us.
