Meet Kyler.
Kyler is a brave
7-year-old who has already overcome so much in his short life.
Kyler
is non-verbal and communicates using an AAC device.
He has apraxia of speech (a motor speech disorder that makes it
difficult for the brain to coordinate the movements needed for speech), global
developmental delay, and PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder–Not
Otherwise Specified) — a diagnosis previously used for children on the
autism spectrum who show significant developmental differences but don’t fit neatly
into one specific category.
Kyler struggles with fine
motor skills, including using utensils, and currently eats purees
only. He can walk, but experiences fatigue and right-side weakness,
along with lordosis (an exaggerated inward curve of the lower spine).
Recently,
Jessica received incredible news — Kyler was moved off
the waitlist and into an open spot at NAPA Center with less than a week’s
notice. He will begin intensive PT, OT, Speech Therapy (focused on AAC),
NeuroSuit therapy, and feeding therapy.
Because of the
short notice, the family now needs to cover the insurance deductible and
remaining balance for this intensive program. Following NAPA, Kyler also
has the opportunity for an amazing stem cell treatment, which ranges
from $8,500–$9,500 plus travel expenses.
100%
of funds raised will go directly toward Kyler’s therapies and treatment
to help him make meaningful gains.
Jessica and Ben will be posting
updates here and encourage you to follow along on Kyler’s journey.
Your prayers, shares, and support mean more than you know.
