Jan K (my younger cousin living in the Philippines) whose life changed overnight with a devastating diagnosis: Stage 4C tongue cancer. What began as hope for surgery quickly turned into heartbreak when doctors discovered the cancer had already spread to his lungs. The prognosis is grim—only a 30% chance of survival, even with aggressive treatment. Jan was offered chemotherapy and radiation, but with only a marginal increase in survival odds and no promise of a meaningful quality of life, he made the courageous decision to stop all treatment.
Jan wants to spend the rest of his days surrounded by love, not hospital walls.
He now breathes through a tracheal tube and receives nutrition through a PEG feeding tube. Despite the pain and limitations, Jan’s spirit remains strong. He’s ready to go home—to laugh, cry, and make memories with his family while he still can.
But there’s one heartbreaking obstacle: the hospital won’t discharge him until his bill is paid in full. Current Situation:
