I brought Kade to the ER the second week of March for dots all over his legs and face "Petechiae" Kades blood work came back low for hemoglobin and platelets so the children's hospital in Neenah told me they think he's anemic might need a transfusion but they are calling children's Milwaukee to get advice. Kade ended up getting transferred via ambulance. I knew something was wrong because I got there about an hour & a half later as I took my own vehicle. Two doctors were there to greet me as I walked through the door. They asked me to sit down & told me it wasn't for sure but they everything is pointing to that-his white blood cells were low, platelets, rbc, hemoglobin and his "blasts" were high. On 318 we got the official diagnosis they were diagnosing cade, with B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. We made a plan for the next three years which would be his treatment plan that involves steroids chemotherapy and lots of doctor visits. We were discharged on March 26, 2024 as we got home Around 8 PM I gave him his meds, took his temperature with two different thermometers and pretty much just kept an eye on him closely and obsessively checked his temperature. We went back to Milwaukee for his doctors appointment on March 29, 2024 at 8:15 AM with 20 minutes of getting checked in and brought to the back for his weight height and temperature. He ended up having a fever. I couldn't believe it because I was checking his temperature with my thermometers so I thought maybe mine were wrong I had brought them with for the ride just in case I needed to check, so I checked with both of the thermometers as well in the hospital as well and he did ,in fact have a fever. I believe that God was really protecting Kade Because the fever did not start until we were at the hospital. They drew some blood from Kades Central line And told me it could take a couple days until we got the results back from the blood culture. In the meantime they did a biopsy on the two rashes that were starting to appear on his belly and arm. They did a cat scan on his chest and abdomen. We got the test results back and he did have sepsis (pseudomonas) He also has mucusitis, which is when your mucus membrane from your mouth to your rectum, starts to deteriorate his is worse on his rectum to the point where they did put Kade on a morphine pump. His CAT scan result came back and they did find two blood clots in his lungs and one in his spleen they are now giving Kade blood thinner injections into his abdomen twice a day. They are doing blood cultures daily and the antibiotics look like they're working as no new bacteria are showing up. Due to the severity of pseudomonas we will be here for at least another 3 weeks as Kade needs to have IV antibiotics.
All of this has really had me up and down. I've learned in less than a month to never say "it can't get any worse" because it really can. When something like this happens it makes you ask how, why, it really makes you question your faith..and today I stopped by a church to put Kades flyer through the door Since it was Saturday, I was assuming they were closed which they were but to my surprise I was sliding his flyer through a woman came up open the door and let me in-she asked me if I was okay and in just started crying she ended up praying for me and with me Praying for my son praying for his strength. Remember, everything happens for a reason even if it doesn't make sense even if it's not fair and instead of running from my faith which Would be the easier thing to do let me be mad at someone at something-anything. I think I'm going to run towards my faith. Something I haven't done since I was a teenager. I appreciate every single one of you. I appreciate all of the prayers all of the donations all of the check-ins. All of the people who tell me they have thought about him every single day. It really means a lot and one day when he beats this and even now he will feel and see how much he is loved. Thank you🧡🧡🧡 #kadestrong
