She is the Cato family’s firstborn and the best big sister her little brother and sister could ever ask for.
Earlier this year, in February 2024, Jade began experiencing bone pain and wasn’t bouncing back after a stomach virus that affected the whole family.
Concerned, her parents brought her to the doctor. After some blood work at the ER, they received the devastating news that Jade likely had leukemia.
Further testing confirmed it: Jade was diagnosed with MPAL (mixed phenotype acute leukemia), an incredibly rare form of leukemia that combines two types of the disease.
The Cato family holds a special place in so many hearts, and Jade means the world to us all.
Jade has faced this battle with remarkable strength and courage. After a 30-day inpatient stay, she went into remission—a huge victory!
However, her fight is far from over, with about two years of treatment ahead as she bravely tackles this disease. No child or family should ever have to endure this journey, but Jade continues to inspire us all with her resilience and bravery.
Our goal is to provide support to help cover therapies, treatments, and unexpected expenses the family may face. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with Jade and her family.
Your love, support, and generosity mean the world! 💛
