Bringing home a healthy baby is the ultimate goal, but the journey to get there looks a bit different for the Barton family than anyone expected. On August 20, baby Abner made a surprisingly early entrance into the world—born 13 weeks before his due date. Because of his very early arrival, this sweet boy will be calling the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) his home for the foreseeable future, with an expected homecoming date sometime in November.
To give Abner the round-the-clock care, love, and bonding he needs right now, his mom, Hannah, has had to step away from her job completely to be by his side in the hospital. While the family is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love they have already received, managing this new reality comes with massive logistical and financial hurdles.
Many have asked how they can support the family during this time. While they are incredibly grateful for the thought, the most impactful way to help right now is through financial contributions. The Barton family is currently on a healthshare plan, which unfortunately will only cover a fraction of the astronomical costs associated with a multi-month NICU stay.

- Replacing mom’s lost income so she can focus entirely on Abner’s development and care.
- Offsetting daily travel, parking, and incidental expenses related to Abner’s stay.
