Meet Max—a joyful, energetic 7-year-old who sees the world through his own unique lens. Diagnosed with autism and ADHD, Max is a natural explorer with a deep love for motion. Whether it's dashing through the yard or sprinting toward the horizon, Max's need to run is part of how he experiences and regulates his world.
But Max is also a "runner"—a term many families in the autism community know all too well. He has a tendency to leave the house without warning, driven by curiosity and sensory needs, not an understanding of danger. This behavior, known as elopement, is common among children with autism and can be incredibly risky, especially near busy streets or unfamiliar areas . There is a pond nearby, and Max has a tendency to seek out and play in water. This presents a significant safety risk that needs to be monitored closely.
His parents have done everything they can to keep him safe—childproof locks, constant supervision, and even alarms. But what Max truly needs is a secure, fenced-in yard where he can run freely without fear. A fence would provide Max the freedom to play, explore, and be himself, while giving his parents the peace of mind that he’s safe.
This isn't about limiting Max—it's about empowering him. A fence means Max can enjoy the outdoors on his terms, with the safety every 7-year-old deserves. It transforms his home into a sanctuary where he can thrive.
Your support will help fund the installation of a secure perimeter fence around Max's yard. Every donation brings Max closer to a world where he can run, laugh, and grow—safely.
Thank you for helping Max find freedom within safety. Your generosity means the world to this family.
