🌼 Finding David’s Voice

Meet David. 💙

David was born a healthy, happy Valentine’s Day baby who was thriving and reaching his milestones.

At just two months old, everything changed.

David went to the emergency room with a fever because he wasn't acting like himself. After a lumbar puncture, he began having continuous, life-threatening seizures and went into status epilepticus.

He needed a ventilator and was placed into a medically induced coma.

After nearly a month, David finally came off the ventilator. But the prolonged seizures left him with significant brain damage, and our lives changed forever.

Today, David lives with medication-resistant epilepsy, severe cortical visual impairment, developmental disabilities, and a G-tube. He also struggles with sensory processing and can become overwhelmed by loud noises, crowds, unfamiliar places, and changes in routine.

But if you met David, you would see so much more than his diagnoses.

You would see a little boy who smiles, laughs, loves music, loves to learn, and never stops trying. ❤️

I have taught David how to do things all over again—how to eat, how to move, how to communicate, and how to build his strength. We celebrate things other people might consider small because, for us, they are huge victories.

Today, David can sit, push himself up, stand with support, and hold himself up for longer periods of time. He is working on balance, head control, trunk strength, and using his body to communicate.

And he is still learning.

One of the moments I will never forget was watching David happily bicycle his legs during a bath after his medication was changed. He was kicking as fast as he could, smiling at me like he was saying, “Mom, look what I learned!”

I cried. I cheered him on. I was so proud.

Those are the moments that keep me fighting.

David has been seizure-free since September 2024, and every day we continue working toward more progress.

💙 But we need help.

I am David's full-time caregiver and advocate. Therapy doesn't end when we leave an appointment. We work with him every day at home, but providing everything he needs is expensive.

🚐 Our biggest need right now is a reliable vehicle.

A van was generously donated to David, but it needs repairs before we can safely use it.

For David, this van isn't simply transportation to doctor's appointments.

It could give him the chance to experience life.

Right now, we often have to walk because we don't have reliable transportation. Public transportation is extremely difficult for David because of his sensory and visual challenges. He needs a familiar, predictable environment, and changes in surroundings, unfamiliar places, crowds, and noise can quickly become overwhelming.

Even leaving our home can already be a lot for him.

A reliable vehicle would give David a consistent, safe environment that he can become comfortable with. It would allow us to get to his weekly physical and occupational therapy, specialists, medical appointments, and hospital visits without the added stress of unpredictable transportation.

But it would mean so much more than that.

It would mean being able to take David to the park.
Get ice cream. 🍦
Go to the library. 📚
Visit family.
Explore new places.
Make memories.
And simply experience childhood.

David deserves to experience the world like other children.

I don't want transportation to be the reason he misses out on life.

We are also raising money for therapy equipment, adaptive items, supplies, and everyday necessities that help David continue learning and progressing at home.

Every donation—no matter the amount—helps us give David another opportunity to learn, grow, move, communicate, and become more independent.

You aren't just helping repair a van.

You're helping give David access to his therapy, his community, his experiences, and his childhood.

I know what my son is capable of.

I see it every single day.

I see it when he learns something new.
I see it when he stands a little taller.
I see it when he smiles because he accomplished something he couldn't do before.

David has already fought so hard for his life. Now I'm fighting just as hard for his future. 💙

If you can donate, thank you.

If you can't, sharing David's story is just as meaningful.

Our SupportNow page also includes ways to help with gift cards, food, and other everyday necessities.

Thank you for taking the time to meet my son and learn his story.

Please believe in David the way I do. 🙏🏻💙
