Hi everyone,

As some of you may know, Caleb was recently diagnosed with a koos grade 4 Vestibular Schwannoma (a benign tumor) on the left side of his brain and will need to have surgery in the near future to have it removed.

We first realized something was wrong when Caleb lost his hearing some time in October. He scheduled a visit with the ENT (ear, nose, and throat specialist) for January and during that visit, he was told he had lost 96% of his hearing in his  left ear and it was a possibility he had a tumor but not likely.

During this time Caleb was also dealing with a work related accident that happened also in January. Caleb had to get an MRI of his neck for that injury which then revealed the tumor in his brain. After a number of visits to different doctors and a full brain MRI, we were then told the severity of Caleb's tumor and that he needs to have surgery very soon.

Surgery will take place on May 1st. Caleb will go in for pre-op at 5am and the surgery will begin at 7:15am. The surgery will take 11 to 12 hours, unless the doctors need more time, after he will be admitted into the ICU, and his stay will be anywhere from 5 to 7 days. Recovery can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months.

During this time we ask for prayer for Caleb, our family, and extended family as this is not easy news to process. God is good and has given us peace and strength during this time. We will continue to trust that He is in control, and that whatever the outcome is, God is still good and in control. I will continue to post updates as we know more.

***UPDATE***
Caleb’s surgery went well! Praise the Lord! We are in Tennessee while he recovers. I am currently in search of a job so Caleb can continue to focus on his healing and health. We are currently in need financially since Caleb is not working.

He needs continued therapy and will require more doctor visits to see if the tumor has grown or stayed the same. There is a possibility of him needing radiation but we are praying the tumor cells have died off. Caleb will also need hearing aids since he is now deaf in his left ear. We will know more information about that around months 8 or 9 of recovery.

We know that God is good and will continue to provide for our family as He has done time and time again. I’m thankful that God has allowed Caleb to still be here by our side and has made his recovery so smooth.

I will continue to post updates as more information comes. We appreciate each and every one of you that have supported us during this time whether that be through prayer, a meal, financially, or even your time.
